Pumpkinfest in downtown Dayton 10/30 & 10/31

Volunteer Hours and Empty Cans Needed

Greetings All Master Gardeners,

In an ongoing effort to bring attention to our Master Gardener Program we are manning a booth at PumpkinFest in downtown Dayton on October 30 and 31.  We will continue with our presentation on Winter Gardening in Tennessee and have information on the MG Program. We will be able to use our posters etc. from the Rhea County Fair presentation.

Since this is a fun time for the children in our community, we will have an activity for the children in lieu of candy.  Please save all of your cans from your canned goods and bring to the next MG meeting on October 15, 2015 as these will be used for our activity.

Diane Pfeiffer has graciously offered her artistic skills and is heading the activity project.  She will be painting all of the cans orange and adding a small handle.  Markers will be provided for the children to paint faces on the cans.  The cans will be filled with dirt (provided by Thomas Greenlee) and seeds from our winter garden selection planted to eventually give the can some hair.  This is a really cute and easy project.  As you can see we already have a wonderful staff of volunteers, but more are needed.  Please contact Pennie Hendrick (greytacres@gmail.com) to add your name to our volunteer list.
